Profile

Hi I’m Ali. For many of us it is our relationships that make life worth living, isn’t it? But relationships are also tricky and often messy. This is especially true of our intimate ones. I guess if you are reading this you and your partner are dissatisfied with your relationship. Maybe you just don’t feel as close as you would like to or maybe you are falling out a lot, returning to the same argument over and over. You recognise that you are hurting each other and maybe you are wondering whether you have a future. It might help just to know that it is quite normal to struggle in our relationship as we both seek to get our needs met. Although tension is normal, it feels very threatening often because we struggle to understand what is happening between us and so change feels impossible.

I spent 6 years working as a solicitor specialising in family. This work gave me a powerful insight into how easily tension and conflict in relationships can escalate, leaving couples feeling that there is no future for their relationship. It also showed me something of the immense emotional and financial impact of relationship breakdown. I now work with couples who are experiencing distance, disconnection and escalating tension in their relationship. I help them to learn how to talk to each other about even the most pain parts of their relationships in safe and respectful ways and to grow in understanding of each other.  As couples dialogue, I help them to express their needs and desires and find ways to heal their wounds, deepen their connection and experience new joy with one another. If constant struggle has become a feature of your relationship, and you are wondering whether you still want to be together, or if you just want to learn how to connect with each other in a deeper, more satisfying way, I can help so please do get in touch.

I also work with individuals who don’t feel comfortable in their own skin and find themselves caught in patterns of self-critical and blaming thoughts.
