Imago Relationship Therapy is a highly practical form of counselling, developed by Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt. It has seen thousands of couples worldwide establish more passionate and joyful relationships.
You can experience the benefits of Imago Therapy in two ways: attend a workshop or receive expert therapy/coaching sessions – or both!
What is Imago Therapy?
Imago Therapy helps to eliminate the idea of ‘right and wrong’ and replaces it with a sense of understanding and curiosity for yourself and your partner. You’ll discover more about how all partners move through Romantic Love into the Power Struggle and you’ll have opportunities to overcome problems and find joy.
The Imago Dialogue promotes change and growth and allows you to be accurately heard, and to hear.
Counselling Services
If you’re looking for counselling services and want to work on your issues or marriage problems, Imago runs regular workshops designed to help partners gain a deeper understanding of one another and transform conflict into connections.
Each session is run by an advanced counsellor who will provide you with the tools, knowledge and guidance needed to strengthen the connection between you and your partner.
We offer:
Marriage guidance counselling
Marriage counselling can transform even the most difficult aspects of your relationship into opportunities for growth, healing and joy. It’s a form of psychotherapy that can help to develop a positive marriage and support you through the problems you’re facing.
If you want to work on your own behaviours and attitudes towards your partner, you can attend marriage counselling alone.
What to expect from couples marriage counselling
Marriage therapy is an opportunity to listen to each other and work through the problems that you’re experiencing as a couple. The first session is designed to ensure that both you and your partner feel comfortable and can voice your opinion confidently. It’s the first step to assisting you on a path to happiness, whether that means remaining as a couple or deciding to break up.
It’s important to remember that your counsellor is not there to judge you; they are there to help you see a different viewpoint. Your marriage counsellor may ask about your childhood and previous relationships in an attempt to understand the reasons why you may be feeling a certain way. Your counsellor’s job is not to save your marriage; their job is to help you to decide on the best option for your future. They will not encourage you to separate with your partner or stay together.
Our counsellors can help you work through the problems within your relationship, whether that’s sexual problems, self-esteem issues or feeling distanced from your partner. You will usually have around 4-6 sessions and it’s important to put what you’ve learnt from each session into practice. You may be given work to do at home in the form of communication exercises.
Therapy for couples recovering from affairs
If you and your partner are trying to recover from infidelity, therapy is the first step to working through your problems. In each session you will discover more about each other and ways to recover trust and navigate a healing process.
Counselling sessions for partners looking to reconnect
When a couple has been together for a long time, they may start to feel as though they’re losing a sense of connection within their marriage.
In this therapy session, you’ll start by discovering what your relationship problems are and our relationship counsellors will help you to bring more joy into your marriage and a stronger sense of connection.
Relationship counselling for a new couple
Relationship problems don’t only occur within a marriage; they can start to appear in new partnerships. Imago Therapy will provide you and your partner with practical tools that will help to keep your relationship strong and survive long-term.
Personal development for singles
If you’re single and looking for healthy and lasting love, therapy is a great opportunity to boost your self-esteem and learn more about yourself and why you’re drawn to particular people. Each session will help you to uncover patterns that aren’t working for you and that may have caused relationship problems in the past. This is an important step towards self-love, personal growth and enhanced communication skills.
Couples Workshop - Getting the Love You Want:
Based on the bestseller, ‘Getting the Love You Want’ written by Harville Hendrix, this counselling workshop is held in London.
